In April, the government set up a 13-member task force, headed by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha, to prepare a road map for the implementation of unmanned aerial vehicle technology.

"HMoSCA @jayantsinha chaired a meeting of the drone task-force: the final recommendations are expected soon. This report will help shape India's Drone Regulations 2.0," the ministry said in a tweet.

In August, the ministry came out with norms for civilian use of drones.

The task force is to develop a roadmap with implementable recommendations for central as well as state governments, industry and research institutions.

The committee would prepare a roadmap, including "outcomes, timelines, implementation & review mechanism and measurable metrics" for the implementation of UAV technology. Besides, the role of the industry would be clearly delineated, an official release had said in April.
