Thereafter, after few days, the biometric identification system will be started for the passengers entering the airport. The airport authority has not specified the date on which this new system will begin.

“The scheduled date to start this system is June 30 for the staff and thereafter for the passengers,” informed an airport official. With the help of the biometric instrument, the identity of the passenger will be recorded.

A few months back, the airport authority under a pilot project had identified three airports for starting the biometric identification which will be Aadhar enabled. These were Varanasi, Vijayawada and Jaipur.

The teams are currently busy setting up the infrastructure and soon the staff at the airport will be entering into the various areas of the airport using this identification system.

The new system will help to reduce the time taken at the entry gate of the airport when the documents like Aadhar or any identification proof are checked by the security at the airport.

If there are rush hours at the airport, people have to wait to enter the building as they wait at the security check to show documents, but with this new system, the time consumed at the gate could be reduced.
