The Assam government has issued revised guidelines for the COVID-19 curfew in the state which will be imposed from May 5, 2021, from 5 AM amid the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state. As per the government's COVID-19 portal, there are 19,923 active COVID-19 cases in this north-eastern state . The circular issued by the Assam government notified that the revised restrictions in the state will be imposed from May 5, 2021, till further notice.

As per the new guidelines, no meetings or gatherings will be allowed at any open or closed spaces. In case of marriages, only 20 people will be allowed for the religious part of the marriages. The reception parties, as well as pre- and post-marriage parties have been prohibited. Not more than five people will be allowed in the religious places. In case of funerals and last rites related gatherings, there should be no more than 20 persons.

It has been instructed by the Assam government that all shops and other commercial establishments will be closed every day at 2 PM. In case of restaurants and eateries, dine-in facility will be allowed till 2 PM. Take away including home delivery will be allowed till 6 PM, after which only home delivery will be allowed. Essential services like pharmacies, hospitals, animal care centres and veterinary clinics will be operating without any restrictions.

In case of workplaces, all government and private offices will close at 2 PM every day. Apart from the officers, 50 per cent of the employees are being allowed in the office. It must be noted that all public transport authorities must enforce COVID-1 9 appropriate behaviour and seating inside the vehicles, carriers, containers and others.

The people must note that because of night curfew, there will be a total ban on the movement of individuals in the state from 6 PM to 5 AM daily and only those associated with essential services on the production of documents will be exempted.
