Anushka tweeted "Truly amazed and humbled by the spirit of solidarity that you all have shown. We are proud to announce that we have raised more than our initial target and it will go a long way to save lives. Thank you for your overwhelming support in helping the people of India."

Similarly, Virat too took to his Twitter account to thank everyone and said "Words fall short to express how overwhelmed we feel to have exceeded our target not once, but twice, thanks to each one of you. To everyone who has donated, shared, & helped in any way, I want to say a big thank you. We are #InThisTogether & we will overcome this together."

The duo had started the fundraiser campaign on May 7. The couple collaborated with crowd-funding platform Ketto for the campaign and had donated Rs 2 crore towards the initiative.

The couple had aimed to raise Rs 7 crore for Covid relief in India. But later increased the target to Rs 11 crore after MPL Sports Foundation, part of fantasy gaming company MPL, had donated Rs 5 crore.

Virat informed about the same via his Twitter account. "Thank you MPL Sports Foundation for your generous contribution of 5 crore in our fight against Covid-19. With your help we have now increased our target to 11 crore. Anushka & I are deeply grateful for your unconditional support," he tweeted.
