Indian Railways has taken a unique step and installed a special fridge at Hubli railway station! Dubbed as public fridge, it is intended to provide food to the needy. Under this novel effort, the national transporter has installed a public refrigerator at Hubli railway station where passengers as well as employees of the food plaza on the station have been urged to keep their extra food in this fridge to help the people in need.

Railways makes use of leftover food

It has seen for a long time that many people and employees of food plaza were throwing the leftover food items in the garbage. Keeping this in mind, Indian Railways came out with this unique idea to make this food available to the needy people. Notably, the public fridge also carries a valuable information on its body stating that cart facility is free for disabled, senior citizens and sick people to go to different parts of the station.

More than 100 people benefited

The novel effort of the Indian Railways has started showing  results already. In the last three days, more than 100 needy people have taken advantage of this public refrigerator on the said Railway station.
