Mutual Funds AUM Increased by 5.1% MoM in Oct 2020 (Rs 1.37 Lakh cr) to Rs 28.23 Lakh cr in Oct 2020. On a YoY basis, the total AUM increased by 7.2%. Average AUM (AAUM) of the Mutual Fund industry increased by 2.2% MoM. On YoY basis, the Total AAUM increased by 8.4%. In Oct 2020 net inflow from for the industry was at Rs 98576 cr as against net outflow of Rs 52091 cr in Sept 2020.

Equity Investments by Mutual Funds and FIIs:

Domestic mutual funds have been net sellers in the last 5 months. In Oct 2020, Mutual Funds were net equity sellers of Rs 14344 cr as against net sellers of 3982 cr. In Oct 2020, mutual funds were net buyers in equities for 4 trading sessions and net sellers in the remaining 17 sessions. Highest net buying in equities was recorded at Rs 989 cr on 29th Oct 2020; while highest net selling was recorded at Rs 1755 cr on 22nd Oct 2020. FIIs were net Buyers in equities in Oct 2020. In Oct 2020, FIIs were net equity buyers for an amount of Rs 18400 cr as against net sellers of Rs 5690 cr in Sept 2020. In Oct 2020, FIIs were net equity buyers for 14 trading sessions and net sellers in the remaining 6. Highest net buying in equities was recorded at Rs 3589 cr on 27th Oct 2020, while highest net selling was recorded at Rs 1406 Cr on 29th Oct 2020.

Growth / Equity Oriented Schemes:

AUM of Equity Oriented Schemes increased by 1.5% (Rs 12175 cr) to Rs 8.05 Lakh cr in Oct 2020. Further it registered net outflow of Rs 3990 cr as against net outflow of Rs 1009 cr in Sept 2020. AUM of Mid Cap funds & Small Cap Fund decreased by 0.01% & 1.04% but Multi Cap Fund MoM, Large Cap Fund & ELSS increased by 1.2% & 2.6% & 2.2% respectively; these categories registered net outflow in Oct 2020. Funds mobilized from 4 newly launched Open-ended schemes (Large Cap Fund and Sectoral/Thematic Funds ) were to the tune of Rs 2638 cr.

Income/Debt Oriented Schemes:

AUM of Income/Debt funds increased by 8.7% MoM; these categories witnessed net inflow of Rs 1.06 Lakh cr in Oct 2020. AUM of Liquid funds increased by 5.7% MoM; these categories witnessed net inflow of Rs 19583 cr. AUM of Gilt Fund decreased by 15.6% MoM and it registered net inflow of Rs 2573 cr in Oct 2020. Funds mobilized from 3 newly launched Open-ended schemes (Ultra Short Duration Fund, Banking and PSU Fund & Floater Fund) were to the tune of Rs 428 cr.

Hybrid Schemes:

AUM of hybrid Schemes increased by 0.4% (Rs 1135 cr) to Rs 2.95 Lakh Cr in Oct 2020. Further its registered net outflow of Rs 1682 cr as against outflow of Rs 4219 cr in Sept 2020. AUM of Arbitrage Fund increased by 1.12% in Oct 2020. Further its registered net inflow of Rs 1739 cr.

Other Schemes:

AUM of Gold ETF increased by 2.8% MoM; further its registered net inflow of Rs 384 cr. AUM of Other ETFs decreased by 2.5% MoM and by 32% on YoY; this category registered net outflow of Rs 2661 cr. AUM of FOF Investing Overseas increased by 4.4% Mom and registered net inflow of Rs338 Cr. Funds mobilized from 4 newly launched Open-ended schemes (Other ETFs & Index Fund) were to the tune of Rs 126 cr.
