Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel tweeted yesterday, "#BachchanPandey is the official remake of #ThalaAjith BLOCKBUSTER #Veeram."

Veeram is a Tamil language action film directed by Siva and produced by Vijaya Productions. The film starring Ajith Kumar and Tamannaah was released in 2014. It went on to become a blockbuster, collecting Rs 83 crore at the box office, as per reports. Veeram was made on a budget of Rs 45 crore.

Veeram had received positive reviews from critics. News agency IANS had given the film 2.5 stars and written,
"Veeram is a classic example, which elevates Ajith and leaves the rest of the ensemble cast behind. The film is dedicated to Ajith, who is as charismatic as ever in his role. However, he is unfortunately not complemented by a strong screenplay".

Veeram also starred Vidharth, Bala, Santhanam, Nassar, Pradeep Rawat and Abhinaya.

Veeram was remade in Telugu as Katamarayudu (2017) with Pawan Kalyan and Shruti hassan. It is also being remade in Kannada as Odeya with Darshan in lead, to be released in September this year.

STORY: Veeram is story of a brave man who lives in a village with his younger brothers. He is averted to getting married but falls in love with Koperundevi (Tammannah). However, a lot of hurdles crop up when he confesses his love. The rest of the story tells whether he will get married or not.
