Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had proposed, among other measures, air purifiers on the streets of New Delhi to curb the pollution problem that arose after Diwali.

On November 1, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, had called a high-level meeting with various departments. In that meeting he had said that "since dust is is a major contributor to air pollution, various dust control measures, including vacuum cleaning of roads, sprinkling water through jets, and installation of air purifiers and mist fountains will be carried out,"The Indian Express had reported.

However, Anil Madhav Dave, Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in a written reply to Lok Sabha on Tuesday said, "Government of NCT of Delhi has reported that no decision has been taken to install air purifying systems till date. No such proposal is under consideration of the Government".

According to a DNA report, "Road vacuuming, along with installation of air purifiers and mist fountains, were part of the Delhi government’s pilot project, which was announced after the air quality in the city deteriorated critically.
