This is not the first time when government employees are demanding a salary hike. When the administration failed to come to a settlement on the pay issue, the teachers of the Govind Ballabh Pant University went on strike, according to ANI.

The main demands of the teachers were for the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission and job regularisation among others. Pantnagar University Teachers Association (PUTA) staged the protest to represent teachers.

As the administration failed to ring in a new wage settlement led to striking which has affected the new academic session in the university.
