7th Pay Commission: Even as the central government employees are waiting for the announcement of Dearness Allowance (DA) hike, the Haryana government has extended a big gift to its thousands of NHM employees ahead of the assembly elections. Just ahead of festivals, the state government has announced the DA hike by 6%. These Haryana staff will now get an increased DA from 148 to 154 per cent and the same would applicable from January 1, 2019.

Notably, the dates for Assembly elections in Haryana is likely to be announced any day. The Election Commission has already completed the requisite preparations for holding assembly polls in Maharashtra and Haryana, according to reports coming in. Meanwhile, election dates in Jharkhand are likely to be announced later as the state Assembly still has three months with it.

Demand fulfilled

The Haryana government has also assured the NHM employees that it is considering to extend them the benefit of the 7th Pay Commission. It has also assured them to look into their service conditions, besides considering to repay them the deducted amount during their strike.

Earlier on September 9, the NHM employees laid a siege to the Chief Minister's residence. Later, a meeting between NHM Employees Union and the government representatives was held, wherein, the state government ordered for the DA hike.

Central employees still waiting for DA

The Central government employees are still waiting for the announcement related to their DA, expecting a 5 per cent increase. This increase will benefit them the most after the implementation of the 7th pay commission scale.

Under the 7th pay commission, the central government on Wednesday announced a bonus, equivalent to the wage of 78 days, to benefit over 11 lakh Indian railway employees. These employees will get 78 days wage as bonus which is linked with the productivity.
