5/20 rule set to go as Cabinet takes up Civil Aviation Policy on Wednesday
The existing 5/20 rule states that airlines must have completed at least 5 years before they can fly international flights.
The new Aviation Policy is likely to get a clearance from the cabinet tomorrow.
Sources say that the 5/20 rule might be done away with for a 0/20 rule.
The existing 5/20 rule states that airlines must have completed at least 5 years before they can fly international flights. In the 0/20 rule if an airline has 20 flights or has an aggregate 20% flights on domestic route, it can get the license to fly on international routes.
This rule will allow domestic airlines to get the permit to fly on international regardless of their experience.
The FDI limit could be raised beyond 49% for airlines operating within 5,000 km radius of the country.
