Monsoon tracker Highlights: Reduction in rainfall over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana from today, says IMD

Monsoon tracker: Delhi is on high alert as water level in Yamuna river reached 206.24 metres on Tuesday, which is above the danger mark, according to the Central Water Commission.
The danger mark is 205.33 metres as per the Central Water Commission (CWC). On Tuesday at around 8 a.m. around 3.21 lakh cusec water was released from the HathniKund Barrage in Yamuna Nagar district of Haryana. 
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that his government was in constant touch with the CWC. "According to experts, there will not be any flood-like situations. However, we are prepared if it does happen. If the water level rises to 206 meters, we will initiate evacuation. We have identified 41,000 people living in the nearby areas of the Yamuna riverbank, and we have established relief camps for them," Kejriwal had said.

Among other places, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday cancelled his meetings and directed officials to take stock of the situation arising from heavy spells of rain and rising water levels in Ghaggar and Yamuna rivers. Hundreds of villages in Yamunanagar and Karnal districts were worst affected with the release of excess water from the Hathnikund barrage, admitted officials. 

Heavy rain continued to lash many parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while authorities have been releasing more water at the Hathnikund barrage for the past three days. 

The water level of the Ghaggar, which was 16,500 cusecs, has increased to 21,000 cusecs.

Similarly, the water level of the Tangri river has also increased to 21,000 cusecs from its natural level of 13,000 cusecs.

The water level of the Markanda river is in the safe zone at 50,000 cusecs and is expected to increase in the coming days.
