As per a PTI report, on Sunday, the Tamil Nadu government has announced the class 12 board exams. The state governments have further decided to impose complete lockdown on Sundays and night curfews from 10 PM to 4 AM. The night curfew will be effective in the state from April 20, 2021.

Last week, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) decided to cancel the board exams for class 10 candidates. The CBSE class 12 board exams have been postponed as of now. A decision regarding the revised dates of the class 12 board exams will be taken after a thorough review of the COVID-19 situation in the country on June 1, 2021. The results for the class 10 board exam candidates will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be decided by the board.

Following the announcement by CBSE, the CISCE has also resorted to a similar decision. Various other state boards have also either cancelled or postponed the class 10 class 12 board exams.

Coming back to Tamil Nadu, the postponement of the class 12 public exams was decided at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Palaniswami to review the COVID-19 situation of the state. In order to prevent the rapid rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the state government has also resorted to Sunday lockdowns and night curfews.

Today, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has also directed curfew in the union territory of Delhi with effect from 10 PM today till April 26, 2021, until 5 AM. This decision has also been taken to curb the sharp rise in the number of cases in the national capital.

The Tamil Nadu government has also ordered for night curfew from 10 PM to 4 PM effective from tomorrow, April 20, 2021. Complete lockdowns on Sunday have also been imposed.

In case of the class 12 board exams, though the written exams have been deferred, the ongoing practical exams will be held as per plans. The class 12 written exams were scheduled to take place from May 3, 2021, to May 21, 2021.
