In a series of tweets, Education Minister wrote: "The NEET (UG) 2021 will be held on 12th September 2021 across the country following COVID-19 protocols. The application process will begin from 5 pm tomorrow through the NTA website(s)."

"In order to ensure social distancing norms, the number of cities where the examination will be conducted has been increased from 155 to 198. The number of examination centres will also be increased from the 3862 centres used in 2020.

To ensure adherence to COVID-19 protocols, a face mask will be provided to all candidates at the centre. Staggered time slots during entry and exit, contactless registration, proper sanitisation, seating with social distancing etc. will also be ensured,"  Pradhan further added.

Recently, NTA had issued a public notice clarifying that a fake public notice has been circulated through various means including social media with the subject line, 'Conduct of National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (UG) - 2021'.

This fake public notice further stated that the NEET UG 2021 Exam will be conducted on September 5, 2021. In this regard also NTA vehemently denied that no such public notice has been issued on their part.

NTA informed that the agency is still in consultation with the stakeholders for finalising a date for NEET UG 2021, keeping in view the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the state.

The NTA had released a notification on March 12, 2021, informing that the NEET UG 2021 Exam will be conducted in pen and paper mode on August 1, 2021. The exam was earlier scheduled to be held on August 1, however, the application forms had not been released till now.
