Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad tweeted from her official Twitter handle, "The decision regarding state board's Std. XII exams will also soon be taken keeping the student's health and safety in mind."

Incidentally, it has to be remembered that Gaikwad proposed for a non-examination route' for the class 12 students because of the COVID-19 pandemic at the high-level government meeting regarding the Class 12 Board Exams 2021 which took place on May 23, 2021. She tweeted, "In the meeting convened by the Centre regarding conduct of class 12th #CBSE exams, I raised the following points..." She then informed about the points raised by her through a chain of tweets. She tweeted, "Keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic situation & the projection that children are vulnerable to new strains of coronavirus, option of a "NON-EXAMINATION ROUTE" for class 12th students should be actively examined."

Gaikwad highlighted the fact that the health and mental well-being of the students and their families must be prioritised. She further pointed out the fact that the students and the parents have been sharing their concerns on the sitting for the exams amidst the pandemic. Gaikwad wrote on her twitter handle, "Students have been studying in class 12th for over 14 months. Personally, I believe that we should remove the uncertainty regarding exams & take a decision that is in student's interest."

Gaikwad also pointed out the fact that as most of the professional courses conduct entrance exams for admissions, many experts are of the view that it is possible to evaluate the performance of a 12th class student on the basis of a retroactive assessment model.

Earlier, the Maharashtra government has cancelled the Maharashtra SSC Class 10 Board Exam 2021.  Recently, Gaikwad told news agency ANI, "Board exam results for Class 10th will be based on exams conducted in Class 9th & 10th (internal marks). We will try to declare the results by the end of June. Those who aren't satisfied with their results can write CET exams later."

Now, with the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 cancelled, the Maharashtra HSC Class 12 Board Exam 2021 are eagerly waiting for a decision from the state government.
