Maharashtra Class 10 Class 12 Board Exam News: Amidst the rising number of COVID-19 cases across the country, the Maharashtra government has finally decided to cancel the class 10 board exams. The class 12 board exams have been postponed till the end of May as of now. Last week, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had also taken a similar decision regarding the class 10 board exams.

On Tuesday, the Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad tweeted, "Given the worsening situation of the #Covid-19 pandemic, the Maharashtra government has now decided to CANCEL the state board exams for class 10th. Health & safety of students & teachers is our topmost priority." The education minister also stated that the basis on which the results for the class 10 board exam candidates will be declared will be announced soon. The date of declaration of the results will also be notified in due course of time. Gaikwad assured that the school education department is committed in devising a 'fair and accurate' assessment criterion.

 

Regarding the Maharashtra class 12 board exams, the education minister tweeted, "As far as the state board exams of class 12th are concerned, we have already conveyed our decision to postpone the exams these till May end. The status remains the same. We are closely monitor the health and safety situation in the state."

The Maharashtra HSC exams for class 12 board exam candidates are scheduled to begin from April 23, 2021, and end on May 21, 2021. On the other hand, the SSC board theory exams for class 10 are scheduled to take place from April 29, 2021, to May 20, 2021. The exams are supposed to take place in the offline mode.

Earlier, the Maharashtra education minister had announced the postponement of the class 10 class 12 board exams in the state. However, due to the current scenario, the class 10 board exams had to be postponed. Several other states have also either postponed or cancelled class 10 class 12 board exams and so the authorities are exploring alternate options for evaluating the students.

Both the CBSE and CISCE boards have cancelled class 10 board exams and are preparing an objective criterion to compile the results for the class 10 board exam candidates.
