After NEET PG 2021, now JEE Main April Exam 2021 has been postponed. The decision comes in the wake of spurt in COVID-19 cases. The National Testing Agency (NTA) postponed JEE Main April Exam 2021 on Sunday (April 18.)

“Looking at the present situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and also taking into account the safety and well-being of the candidates and examination functionaries, it has been decided to postpone the JEE Main 2021 April session,” said official notification from NTA. 

Earlier, the JEE (Main) 2021 April session exam was scheduled to start from April 27, 28 and 30.   

"Revised dates to be announced later and at least 15 days prior to the exam," the National Testing Agency said.  

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' also took to Twitter and posted, "Given the current COVID-19 situation, I have advised NTA to postpone the JEE (Main) – 2021 April Session. I would like to reiterate that the safety of our students and their academic career are Education Ministry's and my prime concerns right now". 

JEE (Main) 2021 first two sessions exams have already been completed in February and March. More than 6.2 lakh students had appeared in session 1, whereas, over 5.56 lakh students sat for the exam in session 2. 

After NEET PG 2021 and CBSE Class 12th exam 2021 were postponed for later dates, many students were demanding the upcoming sessions of JEE Mains 2021 to be postponed.   

Meanwhile as per Sunday Covid 19 bulletin, India registered a record 2,61,500 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours on Sunday, which pushed the country's total caseload to 1,47,88,109.
