On Monday, April 19, 2021, in a letter addressed to the heads of the schools presenting candidates for ICSE and ISC board exams 2021, Gerry Arathoon, Chief Executive and Secretary, CISCE stated, "Given the present worsening situation of the COVID-19 Pandemic in the country, the CISCE has decided to CANCEL the ICSE (Class X) 2021 Examination."

Earlier, on April 16, 2021, the CISCE issued a notification announcing that due to the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases all over the country, the CISCE has decided to defer the ICSE and ISC board exams for class 10 and class 12 candidates, respectively. Arathoon mentioned in the letter that with the new circular for ICSE class 10 board exam candidates, the earlier circular issued on April 16, 2021 stands withdrawn.

However, as for ISC class 12 board exam candidates, the same instruction issued on the April 16, 2021 circular will be followed. A final decision regarding the conduct of the ISC class 12 board exams will be taken after a thorough review of the COVID-19 situation of the country by the first week of June, 2021.

Regarding the results for the ICSE class 10 board exam candidates, the CISCE stated that the CISCE is committed in devising 'a fair and an unbiased criterion' on the basis of which the results for the ICSE class 10 board exam candidates will be declared. The date for the announcement of ICSE class 10 results will be informed later by CISCE.

For admission to class 11, the CISCE affiliated schools have been advised to begin the admission process for class 11 admission. Also, the respective schools should prepare a schedule to commence the online classes for class 11 at the earliest.
