The first list of shortlisted candidates will be declared by January 20, 2023.

"The admission process for preschool, pre-primary, and class 1 will commence from December 1 for open seats in private unaided recognized schools of Delhi for the session 2023-24," the Department of Education (DoE) said in a notification.

With the process of the lottery in place, it is seen that there has always been a concern among parents regarding the selection of candidates in their desired schools.

For admissions in nursery and pre-primary classes, schools will also conduct interaction with the parents. Once called for interaction, parents should have adequate preparation to ensure their child gets admission to their dream school.

“Parents desire to admit their little ones to a place where their kids will get exposure to comprehend physical, emotional, and mental skills. Schools assist them to adopt a positive set of attributes and enable them to contribute to society after reaching adulthood,” said Alka Kapur, principal, of Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, ".

According to various officials from the admission department of some private schools, parents need to cherish a positive mindset and relationship with their kids for the beginning of toddlers’ academic careers.

They also mentioned that during the interaction with the parents, the school looks for wholesome relationship between the kid and parents and it should be inadvertently displayed in their interaction with the staff of the prospective school of their kid.

“A few questions such as moral values and ethics, resilient relationship with your kids, etc., can be asked and they must be answered without any artificial sentiments or manipulations. Parents must be assertive and socially confident while inquiring about the culture and infrastructure of the school.  Genuine queries reflect how serious they are about the schooling of their ward,” added Kapur of Modern Public School.

Ajay Gupta, Founder, and CEO, of Bachpan Play School, suggested that parents are likely to face questions with regard to the amount of time they spend with their kids, the kind of environment the kids will face at their home, and so on.
