Chhattisgarh Class 10th Board Exam Cancelled 2021: The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) has cancelled the class 10 board exams due to the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state as well all over the country. The cancellation and the postponement of the board exams seem like a domino effect now. Several state boards have either cancelled the board exams or postponed them.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has also tweeted from his official twitter handle regarding the cancellation of CGBSE class 10 board exams. He wrote, "Keeping in view the current situation of the corona pandemic, the Chhattisgarh Secondary Education Board Raipur has canceled the examinations of class 10th."

 

Last week, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had cancelled the class 10 board exams and postponed the class 12 board exams. Following CBSE, the CISCE had also adopted a similar decision. Several other state boards have also resorted similar measures. For instance, the Maharashtra government has also decided to cancel the class 10 board exams. The class 12 board exams have been postponed till the end of May. Recently, Goa board has also postponed the class 10, class 12 board exams.

The CGBSE class 10 board exam was scheduled to commence from April 15 and continue till May 1, 2021. The CGBSE had earlier postponed the class 10 board exams.

Due to the adverse COVID-19 situation all over the country, the state governments are exploring measures to contain the spread of the pandemic. The Odisha board had also cancelled the class 10 board exams. Last week, the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered the suspension of all class 10 and class 12 board exams in view of the COVID-19 situation in the state. He further announced that the class 9 and class 11 students will be promoted to the next classes without any tests.

As exam after exams are being cancelled, the authorities are also exploring alternatives to evaluate the candidates. For example, the CBSE board has stated that the results of the class 10 board exam candidates will be prepared on the basis of an 'objective criterion' to be decided by the board.
