According to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, TET exam has been made mandatory for recruitment from classes 1 to 12. Recently, the NCTE has issued a circular regarding the revised rules and regulations of the TET examination. If the West Bengal government has any amendments in this context, it has to be recommended via mail by February 15. NCTE has also announced that they will complete the entire proceeding by March 31.

There have been certain concerns regarding the circular issued by the council. Till now, the West Bengal Board of Primary Education used to conduct the TET exam for the primary classes. As for the secondary and the higher secondary classes, the exam was conducted by SSC. It has not been clearly mentioned whether the central government will conduct the TET exam following the implementation of the policy. Whether subject-wise exams will take place for classes 9 to 12 has also not been made clear.
