Textbooks are something that a student always hates! Comic books always hold a special place among the children! But when one has to study and pass exams. But what if a student can learn their subjects from comic books? Wouldn't it have been great if students have a curriculum with which they can relate to? Something they will find interesting, exciting and not boring?

Keeping this in mind and to provide holistic learning to the students the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India has launched comic books aligned to the chapters of the NCERT textbooks.

Now, education is going to be fun and exciting for the students as they will get hold of the NCERT chapters in their favourite comic books. On March 24, 2021, the Union Minister of Education launched the 100+ comic books created by the teachers of various CBSE affiliated schools. The project has been curated by NCERT. Providing education in this kind of an innovative way is definitely going to usher the vision envisaged in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The comic books have been developed in alignment to the chapters of the NCERT books across grades 3 to 12. Teachers across various CBSE affiliated schools have made this innovative pedagogy for 16 subjects possible.

The key highlights of the comic books are as follows:

1) They are divided into smaller topics which are supported by worksheets and emphasizes on the learning objectives and outcomes

2) In order to make the concepts clear among the students and to do away with the learning gaps, the comic books have introduced application-based examples in their content

3) Special care has been taken care of in addressing the issues related to gender sensitivity, women empowerment, value education and other life skills

This initiative focuses to bring in a transformation in the education process and create holistic learners.
