Amid the surge in the covid cases in the country, Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC), indefinitely, has deferred the HS First Year Exams 2021 indefinitely.

The HS First Year or Class 11 examinations have been postponed, the AHSEC circular states. However, no official notice has been released yet as far as, Assam Board Exams 2021 for Classes 10 and 12 are concerned.  

The decision on Assam 10th and 12th Board Exams 2021 (either postponing or cancelling) would be taken by May 3, the local reports says. The examinations are about to begin from May 11.  

SEBA or Board of Secondary Education conducts Assam Board Class 10 examinations, whereas, Class 12 examinations are undertaken by AHSEC.  

The students and parents have been urging the state government to postpone the examinations over the past few weeks, following the second wave of covid in the country.  

The Northeast state continues to report a smaller yet steadily rising coronavirus numbers. In order to ensure no further transmission, many are expecting that the examinations must be postponed.  

Moreover, many students and parents are also urging SEBA to cancel the Class 10 board exams in line with CBSE decision.  

Central Board of Secondary Education, earlier this month, had declared that Class 10 examinatons would be cancelled while Class 12 would be postponed. Students in Assam are advised to be patient and continue with their preparation.
