The management has been asked to cut the amount from their salary with respect from October. Notably, the residential colonies were not part of the disinvestment exercise. The government had in January 2022 transferred 100 per cent shares in Air India to Tata Group's wholly owned subsidiary Talace Pvt Ltd. along with management control.

People who are currently living in the Air India colony are under deep stress and accused the management of not giving proper maintenance. "We don't have water supply and there is no maintenance in the society. We are giving our own money for maintenance," Sukhjit Singh, a resident of the Air India colony told ANI.

According to sources, the government has asked Tata to deduct the salaries of those who are still occupying flats in Air India Colony. However, employee unions had earlier moved the Court to challenge the order and the matter is sub-judice.
