Full emergency declared at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Friday after an Air India Express flight carrying 182 passengers from Calicut was diverted due to technical reasons, news agency ANI reported. The flight, Air India Express IX 385, landed at the Thiruvananthapuram airport safely around 12.15 PM.

The flight was diverted to Thiruvananthapuram due to a suspected hydraulic failure. A PTI report said that the tail part of the aircraft hit the runway during take-off from the Calicut International Airport in the morning. The flight landed at Thiruvananthapuram airport after dumping fuel over the Arabian Sea to facilitate safe landing.

 

Air India Express in a statement confimed that flight IX 385 was diverted to Thiruvananthapuram due to suspected tail strike during take off. The aircraft made normal safe landing at Thiruvananthapuram at 12:15 PM and passengers deplaned. The statement added that arrangements are being made to send the passengers to Dammam by an alternate flight which is scheduled to take off from Thiruvananthapuram at 3:30 PM today.
