Highlights:

Information Technology (IT) firm Wipro has announced on Tuesday of bagging a 12-year contract from NHS Scotland to build a next generation Enterprise Master Patient Index (eMPI) solution.

Wipro has partnered with NextGate to enable eMPI solution in Scotland.

This solution will help NHS Scotland transition from its current legacy Community Health Index System (CHI) to offer cost-effective, efficient, paperless and patient-friendly healthcare services in Scotland. 

"We are pleased to be working with Wipro, a leading global information technology company and NextGate, the leader in healthcare identity management, to move our Mainframe Solutions Transformation Programme (MSTP) initiative forward," NHS director of IT at National Services Scotland Andy Robertson, said in a press release. 

"The modernisation of our CHI system using their technology will help us deliver the highest standards of healthcare to the people of Scotland in a cost-effective and efficient manner," Robertson added.

NHS Scotland is the Scotland's National Health Board which work towards reducing health inequalities and improving health conditions.

Commenting on winning a contract from NHS Scotland, Wipro's senior vice president and global head healthcare, life sciences and services Jeffrey Heenan Jalil, said in a statement, "We are delighted to have been selected as a partner by NHS Scotland  and believe that this initiative is a step towards efficient data management to provide improved quality and integrated care. Wipro will leverage NextGate's MatchMetrix platform to enable the eMPI solution to link and manage data from patients, partner institutions and third party organisations.
