The State Bank of India (SBI) today announced that it has appointed Prashant Kumar as their new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Prior to this, Kumar was designated as DMD (HR) & CDO of the bank. Despite, the CFO announcement, investors retained their bleak outlook on SBI share price. The proof of the pudding lay in the fact that SBI share price tumbled by 1.29% or Rs 3.75 trading at Rs 286.65 per piece on BSE at around 1400 hours.

Who is Prashant Kumar?

A Science graduate and a Law graduate from Delhi University,  Kumar joined the Bank in the year 1983, as Probationary Officer and since then he has held various important portfolios in Bank.

As DMD (HR) & CDO he was spearheading the largest Human Resources Department of the Banking Industry consisting of a workforce of more than 2.7 lakh employees and the largest training infrastructure in the country in the Banking system.

Kumar has earlier worked as DMD and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Bank. In his long service in the Bank, he has had opportunity to work in various areas of banking such as Retail Operations, Human Resources and Strategic Training. 
He also worked as Chief General Manager, Kolkata circle and General Manager in Mumbai Circle.
