Following the Maternity Benefits (Amendment) Bill 2016 that was passed by the Rajya Sabha (Upper House) in August this year which will be a law soon, Vedanta Ltd has announced on Wednesday to implement maternity leave of 26 weeks

The company has extended its maternity leave to 26 weeks (nearly six months).

Besides, the diversified natural resources company has also introduced an adoption leave for 12 weeks and a paternity leave for one week. 

The latest move by Vedanta comes at a time when the government is expected to table the Maternity Benefits (Amendment) Bill 2016 in Lok Sabha (Lower House) in the upcoming Winter Session.

“Vedanta’s new and enhanced parental leave policy secures an inclusive and productive work environment for our employees, who are our most valuable asset. We take pride in having a diverse workforce and our evolved people practices make us one of the most desired companies to work for,” said Vedanta's head-group HR Suresh Bose in a statement.
