Commercial vehicle sales in India, trucks and buses, have grown by 9.2% in the last fiscal, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) data showed.

Total production of buses has increased by 11.16% in 2014-15 from 2013-14. Production grew by another 9.2% in the following year. 

The domestic sales of buses had increased by 13.7% in 2015-16 compared to only a 0.17% growth in 2014-15.
 
Similarly, the production and sales of trucks has improved over the last year. While production increased by a good 12.5%, sales too posted a good growth of 11.16% in 2015-16. This is in comparison to a decline in production and sales of trucks in the previous year.
 

“Government whenever needed, interact with the Indian Automobile Industry for the promotion of Auto Sector. Department of Heavy Industry is working on the Automotive Mission Plan 2016-26 to help the industry grow and foster in the next ten years of the plan period,” said the Minister of State (MoS) in the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Babul Supriyo in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.
