Swiggy charging platform fee: If you order your favourite meal through Swiggy, here is some news for you. The online food delivery platform has started charging users a platform fee of Rs 2 for each order, irrespective of the cart value. The company said that the additional charge is being imposed only on food orders and will not be applied to Instamart users.

"The platform fee is a nominal flat fee charged on food orders. This fee helps us operate and improve our platform and enhance app features to deliver a seamless app experience," IANS quoted a Swiggy spokesperson as saying in a statement.

The IANS report further said that Swiggy claimed it receives more than one and a half to two million orders in a day. People in Hyderabad ordered 1 million plates of biryani and 4 lakh plates of haleem on the food-delivery platform Swiggy during Ramzan.

In March, Swiggy said it delivered 33 million plates of idlis in the last 12 months. This shows the immense popularity of this South Indian dish among the customers. Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai were the top three cities where the maximum number of idlis were ordered. On average, the company has over 2.5 lakh restaurant partners on its platform. Typically, around 10,000 restaurants are onboarded every month.

Meanwhile, Swiggy and Apna have announced a partnership to create 10,000 jobs in 2023 for Instamart. Apna is a leading professional networking platform for gig workers.
Swiggy's food delivery services are available across 500 cities. Its Instamart services are currently available in over 25 cities. Instamart is Swiggy's instant grocery delivery service. It was launched in 2020.
