Supreme Court attaches Saharas Aamby Valley property

Supreme Court (SC) on Monday ordered attachment of Sahara Group's Aamby Valley properties.
The apex court will next hear Sahara's case on February 27. The Reserve Bank of India is seeking winding up n Sahara's NBFC business, it told SC.
On January 12, the apex court had refused to grant extension to Sahara chief Subrata Roy to pay Rs 600 crore. The apex court ordered Roy to pay the amount by February 6.
The company said it had already deposited Rs 11,000 crore with Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) so far on the FCCB case.
"If Sahara Chief does not pay the amount by February 6, he shall commit himself to jail. Too much indulgence has already been given to Roy, more than any other litigant, " Supreme Court was quoted as saying by PTI that time.
Roy cited demonetisation and economic slowdown for extension of time to pay Rs 600 crore. However, the apex court granted liberty to Roy to transfer Rs 285 crore deposited in London Bank to Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
Roy was granted parole on May 6, 2016 after his mother passed away a day earlier. The parole was extended for two months on May 11. Thereafter, it was extended till August 3 and then till September 16 and later till September 23. Further it was extended to February 6, 2017.
