Maruti Suzuki's sales in October posted a good 9.9% growth in domestic car sales. The company sold 1,36,000 units during the month of October 2017 from 1,23,764 units during the same month last year.

Total sales, including exports and domestic sales, grew by 9.5% during October as it sold 1,46,446 units during the month in comparison with 1,33,793 units sold in the same month last year.

The passenger car segment of Maruti Suzuki saw a 6.7% growth during the month as its sales rose to 99,077 units during October this year form 92,886 units sold in the same month last year.

This was aided by a huge 24.7% growth in sales of the compact car segment of Maruti Suzuki, which includes cars such as the Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire and Tour S.

The car sales of the compact segment grew to 62,480 units in October 2017 this year, from 50,116 units in October 2016, on the back of new launches such as the Dzire and Ignis.

The mini segment of Maruti Suzuki however saw a decline in sales by 4.2% during the month. The cars in the mini segment the Alto and WagonR.

Even the mid-size sedan Ciaz posted a huge 35.4% decline in sales it sold only 4,107 units in October this year in comparison with 6,360 units sold in the same month last year.

The utility vehicle segment too helped pust Maruti Suzuki's sales during the month as it posted a 29.8% growth during the month. The segment, which comprises of vehicles such as the Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross and Vitara Brezza, sold 23,382 units in October 2017 from 18,008 units in the same month last year.

The vans segment, which comprises of Omni and Eeco, saw a 0.9% decline in sales as it sold 12,669 units in comparison with 12,790 units in the same month last year.

Maruti Suzuki which recently become the top exporter from the country saw its exports grow by 4.2% as it exported 10,446 units in October 2017 in comparison to 10,029 units in the same month last year.
