SpiceJet is all set to launch 12 new domestic flights effective from the first week of October 2019, deploying its Boeing 737-800 aircraft on these routes, according to the airline, which stated that all the new flights will be operational daily. SpiceJet's latest additions are part of the move to make massive domestic sector expansion. Starting from April 1, the domestic airline firm has announced as many as 142 new flights, including 78 connecting Mumbai, 30 connecting Delhi and 12 flights between Mumbai and Delhi.

The airline has also decided to introduce daily non-stop flight between Delhi and Aurangabad from October 8, besides enhancing its operations on the Delhi-Kolkata and Delhi-Bengaluru routes with additional frequencies.

SpiceJet currently operates 550 average daily flights to 62 destinations, including 52 domestic and 10 international ones, having a fleet of 77 Boeing 737, 32 Bombardier Q-400s and three B737 freighters.

IndiGo operations on Delhi-Agartala route

IndiGo too has started operations on its Delhi-Agartala route effective from August 14, 2019, with fares starting at Rs 3,999. The airline is the first carrier to fly on Delhi-Agartala route, said the company's press release. 

William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer of IndiGo, stated, “In line with the government’s vision to strengthen tourism in the North-East, we are pleased to launch these flights to enhance point to point connectivity in the region. We are confident that increased connectivity will be an enabler to nurture tourism and trade opportunities, with Agartala’s rich culture and Dibrugarh’s sprawling tea estates, in not just these cities but also the surrounding areas.”

IndiGo has also introduced daily non-stop flights between Silchar and Kolkata with effective from September 20, 2019, with a starting fare of Rs 2,418.
