Homegrown low-cost air carrier SpiceJet on Thursday has launched its first daily direct flight from Kolkata to Dhaka. 

The new flight will operate from Kolkata International Airport to Dhaka which is capital of Bangladesh.

SpiceJet has launched its seventh international destination with launch of this new flight and is the first and only low-cost airline to operate a daily direct flight on the route, SpiceJet said in a press release.

“It is indeed a proud moment for us as Dhaka becomes our seventh international destination.SpiceJet is happy to have fulfilled its commitment to the West Bengal government, which was very keen on this new service connecting Kolkata with Dhaka. We hope to connect Kolkata with many more international destinations in the times to come,” SpiceJet chairman and managing director Ajay Singh, said in a statement. 

According to SpiceJet, the new daily flight on the Kolkata-Dhaka route will help increase the connectivity with Bangladesh from India. 

The new flight will provide convenient onward connections to cities such as Bangkok, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Guwahati, Bagdogra, Aizawl and Silchar via Kolkata to Dhaka, it said. 

The airline has opened its ticket bookings for the new Kolkata-Dhaka route and air flyers can book their tickets on www.spicejet.com and through online travel portals and travel agents.
