Among the top 10 most influential brands list that was unveiled by global research company Ipsos, six were information technology companies. The report comprised of 20 brands from FMCG companies, telecom operators, banks and information technology companies.

With Google grabbing the number one spot, Microsoft and American multinational technology company – Microsoft and social media platform – Facebook came in second and third positions respectively, as per a report by PTI said on July 15.

Six of the top 10 most influential brands in India in 2016 were IT companies with two e-commerce companies.

Flipkart that was ranked 10th most influential had dropped three places from the year earlier, a report by Exchange4media said. While e-commerce major Amazon ranked sixth on the list.

Among the other brands that played a significant role in Indian consumer mindset were Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali and Mukesh Ambani backed – Reliance Jio that came in at fourth and ninth place respectively.

National public sector bank – State Bank of India (SBI) ranked fifth. The company had merged It is the only financial brand in the list of top 10.

The Ipsos report evaluated over 100 brands across 21 countries and involved 36.600 interviews. In India the research covered more than 1000 Indians online to assess the most influential brands list.

The brands list is made up of consumer ratings on quality, experience and value. This is the second year in a row that Ipsos has published such a brands list.

In the top 20 – Snapdeal, iPhone makers – Apple, Dettol and Maruti Suzuki also were present.
