Transparency service is a product serialization service that provides a unique code for brands to apply on every product unit they manufacture enabling to tackle and prevent counterfeits throughout the supply chain. This process protects both brands and customers from counterfeit of the products.

The official press release of the company noted that the Transparency service is now being extended to France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK, India, and Canada. This geographic expansion builds on the over 4000 brands that have enrolled in Transparency in the US and have generated over 300 million unique codes, the press release added.

The American based tech giant, Amazon scans and verifies the unique serialization code to ensure that only authentic units reach to the customers. Additionally, customers also can use a mobile app to scan the code and verify authenticity regardless of where they purchased their units.

The announcement of geographical extension of Transparency service arrives after a federal court in Philadelphia ruled that Amazon can be held responsible for defective products sold by its marketplace vendors.

Dharmesh Mehta who is the vice president of Amazon Customer Trust and Partner Support said that, “We created Transparency to provide brands with a simple, scalable solution that empowers brands and Amazon to authenticate products within the supply chain, stopping counterfeit before it reaches a customer.”
