Data from Google Trends reveal searches of card games to be going up by a staggering 113% between March and May 2020. Though generally, such games become popular during the holiday season, what could have jacked up their popularity and searches during the said period is the lockdown induced due to the novel coronavirus.

It must be noted that following the outbreak of the virus, Governments worldwide induced lockdowns ranging from a few weeks to months. As a result, most people were forced to spend time within their homes with little or no movement. Card games evolved as a major source of entertainment and time pass during this time. No wonder their searches and popularity went up by leaps and bounds.
