Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) asked new-entrant Reliance Jio to withdraw the three months complimentary offer "Jio Summer Surprise" along with 15 days extension of Jio Prime subscription membership offer.

The regulatory body on Thursday ordered Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (Jio) to withdraw its offers which the company had announced on March 31.

Following Trai's order, Jio soon released a statement for its users stating, "Jio accepts this decision. Jio is in the process of fully complying with the regulator’s advice, and will be withdrawing the 3 months complimentary benefits of JIO SUMMER SURPRISE as soon as operationally feasible, over the next few days. However, all customers who have subscribed to JIO SUMMER SURPRISE offer prior to its discontinuation will remain eligible for the offer."

Under JIO SUMMER SURPRISE, all Jio Prime members making their first recharge payment of Rs 303 (or higher) plans got 3 months complimentary services in addition to the benefits of their purchased plan.

Moreover, since the announcement of Jio Prime Membership in February, the company had garnered over 72 million paid subscribers. Looking at the "tremendous" response, the company on March 31, had announced the extension of the Jio Prime Membership subscription for 15 more days, i.e. till April 15.
