Now Bharti Airtel and Vodafone, two of the largest operators in the country, have now revised tariff plans to follow the suit.

Incentivising subscribers to go in for tariff plans priced in the range of Rs 500 to Rs 800, the operators have started offering substantially higher data.

Here are the plans by different operators and what they’re offering.

Reliance Jio

After introducing its Happy New Year offer, which mimicked its earlier Triple Cashback offer, Jio has now introduced a new plan for Rs 799. The plan will give customers a total of 140GB for a period of 28 days.

Fair usage policy per day restricts data at 5GB per day after which the internet speed will go down to 64Kbps.

This plan also offers 100 SMS per day and free voice calls.

Jio is also offering prepaid customers Rs 509 pack giving subscribers 84GB for 28 days.

"The latest price cut indicates pricing discipline may still be uncertain and highly dependent on consumer behaviour despite industry consolidation paving the way for long-term structural improvements. This move will further delay ARPU recovery," India Ratings said on Tuesday.

Vodafone

Vodafone has also revamped its Rs 458 and Rs 509 plans to give users more data and has also increased validity periods.

The Rs 509 plan by the company now offers 1GB of 4G/3G data per day.

This plan will now last customers up to 91 days instead of the earlier 84 days validity.

Taking the total up to 91GB data, this plan also offers free local and STD calls along with 100 SMS per day.

However, free calling up to 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week limit has been cited.

The Rs 458 plan will now offer 84GB data per day instead of the earlier 70GB. This plan’s validity has also been extended to 84 days. Other benefits on the plan including calls and SMS are similar to Vodafone’s Rs 509 plan.

Bharti Airtel

India’s telecom major, Bharti Airtel’s Rs 549 plan, which is open to all prepaid customers, will now offer 84GB data per day.

This serving of data comes at the side of free local and STD calls even on roaming and local and national SMS.

Airtel’s Rs 509 plan, which competes directly with Jio’s plan, offers 91GB in total. The FUP on the plan is capped at 1GB per day for 91 days along with the other benefits of calling and SMS.
