Carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has launched a new mobile application called DigiSense, to strengthen its customer base of commercial vehicles.

According to M&M, the smartphone app, will "enable new form of communication between the customer and Mahindra vehicles." 

The app will give vehicle information to the owner even when he/ she is away from it, the company said. 

The digital technology platform is developed by Tech Mahindra, Bosch India and Vodafone India.

The app will provide information like remote diagnostics, route optimizers, fuel usage, distance travelled, geo fencing, and will give the customer real time updates. 

Mahindra plans to connect  DigiSense mainly in the commercial vehicle segment, and hopefully in passenger vehicle in near-time future. 

The latest technology using the Internet of Things (IoT) will cost about Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000, depending on the services availed and the vehicles.

Going ahead, the DigiSense app may also provide information like geo-fencing and theft alert, along with remote diagnostics, breakdown alert, distress calling,  according to per CarTrade.com. 

The Mahindra DigiSense service will be free of cost for the first year. The carmaker is mulling yearly subscriptions going ahead.
