The brand new avatar of Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Smart Hybrid, launched in October 2017, worked well for the auto major as has registered a whopping 44.4% growth in sales in financial year 2018, helping strengthen Maruti Suzuki’s position in the premium UV segment even further. All New S-Cross, a flagship NEXA channel model, reported 44.4 per cent sales growth with 30,923 units in FY18 as compared to 21,417 units sold in 2016-17. Since its launch in August 2015, Maruti Suzuki has sold over 76,400 units of S-Cross. In its newest form, the all-new S-Cross scores high not just on looks but also in technology and powertrain too.

“We are humbled and extend our gratitude to our loyal customers for their support for all new S-Cross. We launched the S-Cross in 2015 and carefully read customer’s feedback. We captured the customer demands and addressed them in the new S-Cross that we unveiled in October 2017," said R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director, (Marketing and Sales) Maruti Suzuki India.

Maruti Suzuki has used the DDiS 200 with Smart Hybrid technology on S-Cross. This is the third model in the Maruti Suzuki portfolio to host the DDiS 200 with Smart Hybrid technology. S-Cross comes with a host of features like idle-stop-start, torque assist, brake energy regeneration system and a gearshift indicator. Many of these features enhance energy efficiency in the S-Cross.

"S-Cross is an important milestone in our journey of transformation. We are glad that customers have liked the all-new S-Cross that features a new fascia which is bold and aggressive. Not just a global design but S-Cross is also equipped with the acclaimed green technology of Smart Hybrid. It is the flagship model of NEXA channel. Built on a brand new platform, distinctive shape, dynamic character lines and many sophisticated touches contribute to its success,” Kalsi added.   

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is retailed from premium channel of Maruti Suzuki NEXA. The company has 316 NEXA sales outlets across the country covering 178 cities as on March 31, 2018.

"With smart hybrid technology, we have been able to bring down CO2 emissions to as low as 105.5 gm/km for the S-Cross. In case of S-Cross, its CO2 emissions are lowest in its category," said Maruti Suzuki. 

Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 253,759 units in 2017-18 in Utility Vehicle (UV) segment compared to 195,741 units in 2016-17, marking a growth of 29.6 per cent. MSIL’s UV portfolio includes S-Cross, Vitara Brezza and Ertiga.

Maruti Suzuki achieved a leadership position in the Utility Vehicle sales in the domestic market attaining a 27.5 per cent market share.
