L&T Construction, a construction arm of Larsen and Toubro (L&T), has bagged railway order worth Rs 3,799 crore from Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India on Friday.

“The Transportation Infrastructure Business of L&T Construction has won a major order worth Rs 3,799 crore from the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd. (DFCCIL). This prestigious order has been secured by a consortium of Larsen and Toubro and Sojitz Corp, Japan,” L&T said in a press release.

DFCCIL is a special purpose vehicle of the Indian Railways, mandated to build dedicated freight corridors. 

This project is funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and is part of the western corridor proposed between Dadri near New Delhi and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) near Mumbai. 

The project involves the construction of Civil (embankment, structure, tunnel), track works, overhead electrification, traction substations and signalling and telecommunication works for double line electrified tracks with 2x25 kV AC, high rise overhead catenary system capable of operating at a maximum train speed of 100 km/hr, from Rewari to Dadri (128 km), it said.  

At 15:17 hours, the stock of Larsen and Toubro (L&T) was trading up 2.66% or Rs 38.20 at Rs 1,474.60 on the BSE.
