The engineering and construction company, L&T (Larsen and Toubro) won a mega engineering, procurement and construction order from SJVN Thermal Pvt Ltd to set up a ultra-supercritical power plant in Buxar, Bihar. It is a 2x660 MW power project. The exact value of the project isn't revealed in the press release by L&T but is likely to be in the region of over Rs 7000 crore.

SJVN Thermal private limited is a wholly owned unit of SJVN Limited, a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh and a Mini Ratna public sector undertaking.

The L&T role under Buxar Thermal Power Project will includes Designing, Engineering, Manufacture, Procurement, Supply, Construction, Erection, and Testing & Commissioning.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the plant in March this year.
Earlier, L&T built the world's largest statue of Unity of India's first Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat.

Shares of the company were trading at Rs 1,545.40 apiece, up 0.35 per cent from their previous close, on BSE.
