L&T Construction has bagged orders worth Rs 1,167 crore from its water and effluent treatment, metallurgical and material handling and other businesses.

L&T Construction, an arm of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), has won engineering, procurement and construction orders worth Rs 843 crore from the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) for the construction of a second water storage reservoir in its Visakhapatnam steel plant, L&T said in a filing to the BSE on Monday.

"The scope includes construction of an additional balancing reservoir of 12.32 million cubic meters storage capacity and erection of associated structures, which will meet the water requirements and ensure uninterrupted production from the Visakhapatnam steel plant taking care of its expansion plans too," cited the company statement.

The construction company of L&T has also bagged order from Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Distribution Board for '24/7 Pressurised Water Supply for Tumkuru city'.

"The scope of the project includes improvements to the 50 MLD water treatment plant, laying of 560 km pipeline network, metered house service connections and other associated infrastructure works," L&T said.

L&T Construction's metallurgical and material handling business has won contract worth Rs 259 crore including add-ons. 

"A fresh order has been secured from Indian Oil Corporation Limited for the construction of pet coke (Petroleum coke) handling system in Haldia," the company said. This order is in sync with the strategy to increase market presence in pet coke handling, it added.

Moreover, the company has bagged additional orders worth Rs 65 crore via its other businesses from various ongoing projects.

At 14:57 hours, the stock of Larsen and Toubro (L&T) was trading down 3.85% or Rs 60.00 at Rs 1,498.00 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
