Jet Airways has even delayed salaries of many employees in recent months. It had recently asked 15 senior level employees from various departments including engineering, security and sales, to leave the company.

It was speculated that the airline may sack around 500 ground staff to keep a check on its deteriorating financial health. Rising fuel prices, weak rupee and intense competition have added to the woes of the airline. The airline has reported a second consecutive quarterly loss in August.

Recently, three senior executives had resigned from the airline. According to a Business Standard report, the executives were head of cargo, information technology and revenue management.

The PTI source alleged that the airline has been sacking employees in small chunks to avoid outrage and attention. A Jet Airways spokesperson said that the airline has been evaluating all options to achieve better financial efficiencies.

The airline had reported a net loss of Rs 1,326 crore in the quarter ended June, compared with a net profit of Rs 58 crore in the year-ago period. Significantly, the airline had declared the June quarter results after delaying it for around two months.
