Jet Airways will launch a direct flight to Singapore from Lohegaon international airport in Pune. The airport currently handles four international flights -- two flights to Dubai, one to Abu Dhabi and one to Frankfurt. With this addition, the airport will handle five international flights from December 1, 2018.  “Pune is getting new direct international flight from December 1 to Singapore by Jet Airways,” said the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Pune on its Twitter handle.

The number of passengers at the airport have grown at the rate of 29 percent this year, according to a report. Pune airport had previously seen a growth rate of only 20.6 percent, Hindustan Times reported, citing airport officials. “The passenger traffic from the Lohegaon international airport in Pune is growing exponentially. It is the business opportunities owing to the high passenger occupancy from the airport in Pune which has led to Jet Airways and many such different airlines requesting slots for operating on different routes,” airport officials were quoted as saying. 

Jet Airways flight will leave Pune at 0515 hours and and reach Singapore at 1315 hours, while the flight from Singapore will leave at 2100 hours, airport officials said. Meanwhile, Indigo Airlines is also expected to start a direct flight from Pune to Male in Maldives. However, date for the same has not yet fixed, the report said.
