Under the air regional connectivity UDAN scheme, airline major Jet Airways has commenced operations its from Allahabad. The flight service will be operated from Allahabad to Lucknow, Patna, Nagpur and Indore, a Jet Airways statement said.
 
According to the airline, the starting fares for the flights are Rs 967 for Allahabad to Lucknow, while the fare from Lucknow to Allahabad starts from Rs 757. The fares for Allahabad to Patna start from Rs 1,216.
 
This regional connectivity is likley to benefit a lot of travellers between state capital Lucknow and Allahabad, which is also a very significant city due to its being religious centre. 
 
Another airline firm Air Odisha also launched a flight to Jagdalpur from Visakhapatnam through Raipur, commencing services to Chhattisgarh from Andhra Pradesh, under the Udan regional connectivity scheme yesterday. Now, Jagdalpur would be connected by air from Raipur, and the travel distance between the two cities has now been reduced to a merely 40 minutes. Otherwise, the same journey through a train used to take 15 hours, while six to seven hours by road. 
 
Air Odisha also informed that the airfare for a single-way journey has been kept at Rs 1,670, which is in line with the Rs 2,500 ticket price fixed for a one-hour journey under the Udan scheme. 
 
Notably, UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) is a regional airport development and "Regional Connectivity Scheme" (RCS) of the central government, which has been commenced to "Let the common citizen of the country fly", making air travel affordable.
