Legendary actor, director and producer Raj Kapoors iconic bungalow in Chembur, Mumbai has been sold to Mumbai-based Godrej Properties, which will build a premium residential project at the location. Earlier, the real estate company had acquired RK Studios in Chembur from the Kapoor family.
Legendary actor, director and producer Raj Kapoor’s iconic bungalow in Chembur, Mumbai has been sold to Mumbai-based Godrej Properties, which plans to build a premium residential project at the site. Mumbai-based Godrej Properties said the site is located at Deonar farm road, Chembur, adjacent to the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), and is considered one of the most premium residential neighbourhoods in the area.
The land was purchased from the Kapoor family – the legal heirs of Raj Kapoor.
The real estate company will develop a premium residential project at the location of the iconic Raj Kapoor property, according to a company statement.
"We are pleased to add this iconic project to our portfolio and are grateful to the Kapoor family for entrusting us with this opportunity. The demand for premium developments has been strong over the past few years. This project will allow us to further strengthen our presence in Chembur," said Gaurav Pandey, MD and CEO, Godrej Properties.
Godrej Properties aims to build an outstanding residential community that creates long-term value for its residents and celebrates the legacy of the site, Pandey said.
