In a bid to take on Amazon Prime, Flipkart has introduced Flipkart Plus in India. According to a statement released by Flipkart, Flipkart Plus is an India-first program that is the result of years of rigorous data analysis, and Flipkart’s deep understanding of customer preferences. The e-commerce portal promises free & faster deliveries to the customers, early access to major sales on the platform and more.

According to the company, with Flipkart Plus customers will have a superior experience like free and fast delivery, early access to major sale events such as big festive season sales, and an enhanced customer support experience along with the ‘Plus Coins’ that the customers will earn with each order.

With that in mind, we have crafted Flipkart Plus as India’s most inclusive customer benefits program and we’re extremely thrilled to launch it this Independence Day," said Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO, Flipkart, as cited by Telecom Talks.

With its wide reach, appeal, and design to cater to the needs of various customer segments, Flipkart Plus is ideally positioned to make a strong impact on the rewards industry and act as a catalyst in the evolution of e-commerce in India, added Flipkart in the statement.

On the other hand, Amazon India is also offering Amazon Prime membership scheme at an annual price of Rs 999. The Amazon Prime membership also provides faster & free delivery along with early access to major sales, dedicated Prime Day sale. Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Prime Music services are also free for the prime members across the country.
