“Every day more than 90 million people use On This Day to reminisce about these moments they’ve shared on Facebook, and research suggests this kind of reflection can have a positive impact on people’s mood and overall well-being. This is why we’re updating the experience to ensure all of your memories are easy to find,” Oren Hod, Product Manager at Facebook mentioned in a blog post.

According to a report by DNA, the new Memories page will now include several sections. The ‘Friends Made on This Day’ section will include a list of friends you made on this date in the past, including special videos or collages that celebrate your ' friendversaries.'

Seasonal or monthly recaps of memories that have been bundled into a message or short video would be featured in  'Recaps of Memories.' On the other hand, ‘Memories You May Have Missed’ section will show you the posts that you might have missed from the past week.

Facebook is engaged in special deals with specific companies to allow them access to user's friends' data. The social networking giant recently confirmed that it stopped allowing companies access to data in 2015, Engadget reported.

However, a new report on the Wall Street Journal states that the company continued to allow access to users' friends' list and related details. To this, Facebook said that it only allowed access to third party companies for improving user experiences and not to the friends' private information such as photos and interests.

Recently, in March Facebook was sent a notice following the controversy over data-sharing with UK-based Cambridge Analytica. It had also sought clarification on whether or not the data of Indian users on its platform has been compromised.

The data of over 5.6 lakh users in India may have been accessed without their consent, Facebook said in its response. The social media giant has over 20 crore users in the country.
